DYING TO LIVE
COMMENTARY
Who could, in their wildest dreams, imagine when the fireworks on New Years Eve kicked 2019 into 2020, that within a few weeks the new decade would turn the whole world and life as we used to know it so totally upside down. What we first thought was a local outbreak of a virus somewhere far away that would never affect us in our safe spot of the world, quickly turned into a global pandemic, spreading with a speed that couldn’t have been foreseen and even less be prepared for. It caused consequences that we never could’ve imagined.
Throughout history the world has faced wars, diseases, disasters and numerous other trials. And right now we’re in the midst of fighting the Corona virus. Through all of this, money always has and always will talk louder than anything else and there are people using other people’s fear to make a lot of money. Ten years ago when the Swineflu was spreading across the globe creating hysteria and chaos, a lot of young people developed narcolepsy as a side effect from vaccines rushed through production. When money talks, there’s always some who get to suffer for other people’s profit.
In the secular and materialistic western world, the corner of the world that I call mine, it became very obvious to me, how vulnerable the life we’re trying to build really is. We live in a time where we’re so eager to believe that we are the ones sitting upfront, holding the wheel in our lives. We go to the gym, follow diets, and some even do cosmetic surgeries in order to hunt down the youth that our aging bodies desperately try to hold on to. People at the age of 70+, who were ordered to stay in quarantine when the Corona virus began to spread out of control, felt discriminated and said that: ”70 is the new 50”. So many of us are so afraid of the physical death, so we turned a blind’s eye to the fact that we’re slowly dying on the inside.
We live in a time where we can have contact online with more people all across the world than ever before in our history. But at the same time, as human beings, we feel more and more lonely and the personal connections with other people become more and more rare. We do everything within our power to stay alive, but the truth is our days are numbered. We don’t know when our time is up on this earth but we need to come to peace with the fact that we are dying creations in order to fully live the days we get to enjoy here. Like the commander in the Disney/Pixar movie ”Wall-E” says: ”I don’t just wanna survive – I wanna live”. There is more to this life than only these fading years we live on this earth, even if they in so many ways are absolutely magical. We need to dare to lose our lives in order to win them back. We’re dying to live.
If this song awakens something in you or speaks to you in any kind of way, I would love to hear from you. Please share your story with me by sending an email to: my017@zeroseventeenproject.com
Thank you so much and take care you all.
Blessings!

DYING TO LIVE
Music & Lyrics: D. Dahlqvist
Media loves this new sensation
We fuel the fire with our frustration
As people yell for vaccination
Others prosper through this situation
We try so hard to cure the outside
Trying to ignore the inside
But medicine won’t cure the fear
Of losing what we hold so dear
There is nothing we want more but we’re dying
There is nothing, nothing more (than to live, nothing more)
But we’re dying
We’re dying
We’re dying to live
We’re only picking fading flowers
When we put all our trust in the West World’s powers
Instead of all our great solutions
We really need a different revolution
When we search we search for more cause we’re dying
There is nothing we want more (than to live, nothing more)
But we’re dying (dying)
We’re dying (in our search for an explanation)
We’re dying (trying to handle our desperation)
To live
Plant a seed to reap a harvest
Trim a tree to take it farther
From the root to the fruit
Dying is a part of you
There is nothing we want more (than to live, nothing more)
But we’re dying (dying)
Media loves this new sensation
We fuel the fire with our frustration
As people yell for vaccination
Others prosper through this situation
We’re dying (in our search for an explanation)
We’re dying (trying to handle our desperation)
We’re dying (find a way in this situation)
We’re dying
So we might live

SHARE YOUR STORY – #myzeroseventeen
THE ZERO SEVENTEEN PROJECT is not only about me. It’s a ”lifeshare-moment” which is a way of sharing experiences, helping each other to rise above the circumstances in life that try to keep us down. I wanna share my life and my stories with you through my songs and through this project. But my hope and prayer is that you want to share your story, too. I believe that everyone have had, is having or will have, their own ”ZERO SEVENTEEN” in life. When our own situation seems hopeless and we stumble in our own darkness, we can find strength and hope in other peoples stories, helping us to keep on fighting and never give up. If my songs or my stories awakens anything in you or remind you of your way up or out, please share it by sending an email to: my017@zeroseventeenproject.com or by using the hashtags #myzeroseventeen or #my017 when posting your story on your social medias. As my oldest daughter once said (she’s wiser than her dad sometimes:) – ”If my painful experiences can help somebody else – then my pain hasn’t been in vain”.
We’re in this life together – Let’s try to make it a little better by start making ”lifeshare-moments”.
